【摘要】:PresenceofevenlowconcentrationsofPVCinrecycledPETflakesmayresultinequipmentcorrosionproblemsduringprocessing.ThelevelofPVCcontaminationmayalsodictatethemarketforuseoftherecycledpolymerinsecondaryproducts.Procedurespresentedinthispracticeareusedtoidentifyand,ifdesired,estimatetheconcentrationofPVCcontaminationinrecycledPETflakes.1.1Thispracticecoversfourproceduresforseparationandqualitativeidentificationofpoly(vinylchloride)(PVC)contaminationinpoly(ethyleneterephthalate)(PET)flakes.Note18212;Althoughnotpresentedasaquantitativemethod,procedurespresentedinthispracticemaybeusedtoprovidequantitativeresultsatthediscretionoftheuser.Theuserassumestheresponsibilitytoverifythereproducibilityofquantitativeresults.DatafromanindependentsourcesuggestaPVCdetectionlevelof200ppm(w/w)basedonanoriginalsampleweightof454g.1.2ProcedureAisbasedondifferentfluorescenceofPVCandPETwhenthesepolymersareexposedtoultraviolet(UV)light.1.3ProcedureBisanoventestbaseduponthecharringofPVCwhenitisheatedinairat235C.1.4ProceduresCandDaredyetestsbasedondifferentialstainingofPVCandPET.Note28212;Otherpolymers(forexample,PETG)alsoabsorbthestainorbrightener.SuchinterferenceswillresultinfalsepositiveidentificationofPVCasthecontaminant.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.ForspecifichazardsseeSection8.Note38212;ThereisnoequivalentISOstandard.
